Anahita and Apoorva (Vocalists)

Anahita and Apoorva are among the highly sought after artistes of the younger generation in the Indian Carnatic Classical arena. They have won acclaim for their musical excellence and impeccable synchrony. They started their initial training with Smt Shanti Jayaraman and are currently under the guidance of world renowned maestro Sangeet Samrat Chitravina N Ravikiran. They are also learning complex Tala theories and Ragam Tanam Pallavis under Acharya Ratnakara Chitravina Shri Narasimhan.

They have captivated audiences in India, USA, Middle East, Australia and New Zealand and have been featured in prestigious events such as the Cleveland Tyagaraja Festival and San Diego Festival, HCL concert Series @ Music Academy, Uttar Dakshin Festival, Bharat Sangeet Utsav, Kalavanta, Pallavi Darbar, Yuva Sangeet Utsav, besides the Chennai December Festival.

They have traveled widely across India with performances in over 30 cities including, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Kolkata, Delhi, Pune, Ahmedabad, Bhubaneswar, Shimoga, Udupi, Mysore,Manipal, Vijayawada, Kakinada, Hyderabad, Trivandrum, Kochin, Thrissur, Coimbatore, Kumbakonam, Salem, Madurai, etc. apart from their hometown, Chennai.

Sruthi Sarathy - Violinist

Sruti Sarathy is a leading Carnatic violinist. She is a rare artist who possesses both mastery in the rigorous classical form as well as a boundary-pushing musical vision.

Sruti began her training as a prodigious three-year old.  She is a student of Guru Anuradha Sridhar, a sixth-generation violinist belonging to the eminent Lalgudi family of musicians.  Sruti regularly performs with top Carnatic musicians, and has received the "Best Violinist" or "Best Concert" award three years in a row for her performances at the prestigious Madras Music Academy.  In 2023, she received the Mysore T. Chowdiah Memorial Award from the Cleveland Thyagaraja Aradhana.

Sruthi Sarathy

A Bay Area native and Stanford University alumnus, Sruti is also a versatile composer in Carnatic, crossover, and dance/theater spaces.  She is part of the Carnatic trio Unfretted, and co-leads the Songs for Many Lives: A Carnatic Diaspora Songbook project. She is a Fulbright scholar.  Sruti’s soulful sound brings out the voice of the Indian violin in a contemporary and imaginative way.

Akshay Ananthapadmanabhan – Mridangam (percussion)

Akshay Anantapadmanabhan is a reputed and leading mridangam artist known for his sensitivity, tonality and innovative approach of spreading Indian rhythm through the world. A prime disciple of the legendary guru Sri. T.H. Subash Chandran, Akshay has performed with the past and present leading names of Carnatic music: Sri RK Srikantan, Smt. Sudha Raghunathan, Smt. Aruna Sairam, Sri. Unnikrishnan, Sri. TM Krishna and Smt. Ranjani & Smt. Gayatri to name a few. Akshay has given collaborative performances with Hindustani, Latin jazz, American jazz and rock musicians in unique showcases of South Indian percussion. His latest solo production: ‘Re-imagining Indian Rhythms’ pushes the boundaries of Indian rhythms in an avant-garde approach, bringing together the mridangam, kanjira, konnakol and bharathanatyam with digital loopers and interactive visuals. Akshay is also a core member of the viral Indian Classical fusion bands ‘The Thayir Sadam Project’ and ‘Carnatic 2.0 Reloaded.’

Akshay began his journey on the mridangam at the age of 5 in Shanmukhananda Hall, Mumbai with Sri. T.S. Nandhakumar. He moved to the US along with his family when he was 9 and ironically, that was when his true love and passion for the mridangam and began. He learned from Dr. Venkat Natarajan in NJ, who introduced Akshay to Guru Subash Chandran, which was the beginning of a two-decade long relationship. After completing his school education, undergraduate degree and Masters in Engineering from The Cooper Union New York City, Akshay moved to Chennai, India in 2012 which marked the beginning of his journey as a full-time musician. 

Along with his musicianship, Akshay is also involved with research related to generative Carnatic rhythms and intelligent listening systems as well as a an educator of Indian percussion. 

Samyuktha Sreeram – Ghatam (percussion)

Samyuktha Sreeram is a 4th year student at Duke University. She is a disciple of the Late Sangita Kalacharya Sri TH Subash Chandran and currently is a disciple of Sri N Guruprasad and Sri Akshay Anantapadmanabhan. She also learns carnatic vocal music from Kalaimamani Smt. Charumathi Ramachandran. Samyuktha has been fortunate in providing ghatam accompaniment for many renowned artists in concerts in the US, Canada, and in India. Thanks to her gurus’ blessings, she received the Yuva Kala Bharathi award from Bharat Kalachar in 2022 at Chennai, India./p>
